Reflection
Taking a minimal and modern approach, I designed this infographic to be visually appealing and simple to navigate while ensuring that the reader is not overwhelmed with text. By chunking the essential elements of Christene Elgersma’s blog post, I created a streamlined visual that conveys the key points.
To ensure that my infographic was clear and easy to read and understand, I made use of concise and precise language. I used clear headings to signpost each topic, making it easy for the reader to grasp the main topic and each key point was written to deliver its message in a few short and sharp sentences. This approach helps in maintaining the reader's attention while preventing cognitive overload.
The layout of the infographic is designed with a logical flow in mind. I arranged the sections in an order that allows to reader to have an intuitive reading experience. The design guides the reader from point to point without the need to follow a particular order or path to understand the overall message. Visually, I have used clear spacing to separate each topic with a visual aid in each section to assist the text.
My design choices include a minimal colour palette and clean typography, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the infographic. By using only a handful of colours, I maintained a cohesive appearance that was non-distracting to the reader. Keeping the reader focused on the key points of the infographic was the driving factor of my design process.
One of the challenges I faced while producing the infographic was keeping the information accurate and precise while using as few words as necessary. This came with the trial and error of rewriting sections multiple times to increase the reader’s ability to process and understand the infographic’s message.
